A note to the Novice Rider: Scooters are fun, efficient and practical machines. They are easy to ride, but learning how can be intimidating at first. As a lifelong motorcyclist and retired motorcycle road racer, I work with each new rider to ensure they have the proper basic skills and a plan for practicing these new skills. Counter steering, swerving, and maximum braking skills are demonstrated on the test ride. These skills are then taught to the new rider, if requested. At that point, you are given your new scooter with new skills to practice. Your total riding experience and enjoyment is my goal.

Question: I've seen some of the scooters you carry listed on the Web for less. Why should I buy from Max-MPG Scooters?

Answer: Bikes listed on most web sites are shipped partially unassembled. The list price on those sites don't include the $250 or more you will be charged for shipping. More importantly, the scooters must be assembled by a dealer to maintain the warranty. At Max-MPG, we build and test ride every scooter before delivery - so you can rest assured you are getting a quality machine!

Question: Why do some scooters look so similar but the price is so different?

Answer: Scooters, like all motor vehicles, are a collection of parts. The body work is not what makes a good scooter. Cheap scooters are made of low quality, inexpensive parts. When a scooter factory produces a run of scooters for a customer, for instance Fly, Vespa, Honda, or whomever, the buyer specifies the parts to be used in the machine. The factories offer a choice of parts at different price points so the scooter brand/customer can get a machine that fits its market niche. The brand scooter makers can choose carburators, wiring, packages, ignitions, alternators, switches, brakes, tires, transmissions, belts, cables, suspension, upholstery, paint, finishes, and so forth. The quality and price of those components can vary dramatically. If a customer chooses all low-end components the manufacturing cost savings can be 50% or more. The resulting look is similar but the machine is completely different. Max-MPG Scooters selects scooters built only with the best parts. No "cheap Charlies" at my shop, ever.

Question: How do the Asian bikes you sell compare to the Italian scooters, like Vespa?

Answer: Italian Scooters are great scooters in their own right, but very expensive to purchase and maintain. At Max-MPG Scooters, we offer scooters with similar performance and quality to the Italian brands without the high prices. Our warranties are the same and service/parts costs a lot less. When you factor in all those details, we believe we are able to offer a much better value for your money!
